Reluctantly we are selling our much loved second home in Spain. It's a two double-bedroom apartment in a low rise block set in beautiful gardens with a large swimming pool. The place is called Tamariu, which used to be a small fishing village, but is now a still small beach with bars and restaurants. If you're looking for nightclubs and English bars, you won't find them here.

The block is in a quiet area, set on a hillside, yet not far from the beaches of the Costa Brava and the local town, Palafrugell.

It's on the first floor. There's a lift if you need it. We have a space on the five-car ground floor garage just by the front door which comes as part of the apartment.

The main feature is the large living/dining area with patio doors leading onto the balcony which is a good size as can be seen in the photos. The balcony is west facing and gets full sun from mid-day to sunset. There's a roll-out sunblind to give some shade if you prefer it. The view is across the gardens and swimming pool then the rolling pine covered hills. The forest is green belt and will never be built on.

We eat most meals on the balcony and it's a lovely place to relax as it's quite private. All the furniture you see in the photos is included.

The lounge area is a light and airy room. There is a CD player, DVD player and TV. We deliberately don't have English TV, bur there are satellite dishes on the roof and it can be installed quite easily. There are electric heaters in each room if you want to stay in the winter.

The lounge is off a hallway which leads to all the other rooms. In the hallway are built-in cupboards and wardrobe. The cupboard is lockable and useful storage. This apartment, unlike many holiday flats, is suitable to live in permanently.

The fully tiled bathroom has a full size bath with shower mixer and shower over the bath. There a toilet of course, and hand basin and bidet. There's plenty of hot water supplied by a tank with immersion heater, located in the utility room.

Across the hall is the kitchen. Units are white with white worktops. There's plenty of storage space. There is fridge-freezer, gas hob, electric oven and extractor hood. Bottled gas for the hob is stored in the utility room. There's a toaster, and all the pots, cutlery, china, cooking tools, etc. In fact everything you would expect in a kitchen.

Leading off the kitchen is the utility room. There's a brand new washing machine and a sink, and plenty of storage. There's an iron and ironing board. We use this room to store all kinds of things, tools, beach toys, sunshades, fishing nets, cleaning stuff, etc.

A door leads off the utility room to the back terrace. Only the first floor apartments have a back terrace. This serves as a clothes drying area, kids playground, whatever you want. There's a big lockable garden type storage chest for beach toys.

Off the hallway are the two double bedrooms, one twin and one double. The master double has two double built-in wardrobes, one with drawers. The windows face east, so the sun streams through in the early mornings. There's a fold up bed cunningly disguised as a chest of drawers, which can be set up in the lounge to sleep a fifth person.

The apartment is very easy to maintain. All walls are white, so a quick going over with a roller is all that's needed. The maintenance of the exterior of the building, the gardens and swimming pool are all covered by a community fee of approx. £60 per month.
